Whether you’re off on a holiday or just want the luxury of extra-smooth skin, booking in for a full body exfoliation is the perfect pampering treatment to combat dry, dull skin and leave you with a serious glow.

The skin is the body’s largest organ, and is constantly renewing itself. Unfortunately, during this process, dead cells tend to accumulate on the surface – leaving your skin looking dull and lacklustre. Whether you’re off on a holiday or just want the luxury of extra-smooth skin, booking in for a full body exfoliation is the perfect pampering treatment to combat this problem and leave you with a serious glow.

What to expect from body exfoliation treatments?

Mostly sugar or salt based, many body scrubs also hold a few other abrasive ingredients such as wheat bran to have longer-lasting effects and leave your skin extra soft and touchable. Lasting from between 30 minutes to an hour depending on your preferences, your therapist will start by applying the deeply exfoliating scrub onto your skin in circular motions, clearing clogged pores and removing those pesky dead skin cells that can leave your skin looking dull. Once the body scrub has been applied all over, your therapist will wipe it away with a damp cloth, revealing your new, perfectly polished body. You will usually then be given access to a shower to rinse off any excess scrub and so you can leave feeling cleansed and refreshed.

Apart from luxuriously smooth skin, the benefits of a full body scrub down are plentiful, and it’s known to be great for breathing life back into problem pores and dry, lifeless skin. Though beware if you suffer from eczema or psoriasis, as the exfoliant can be a bit too abrasive for sensitive skin. Another pro tip, is that it’s also a great way to prep your body for a spray tan - ideal for evening out your skin to help to avoid build up and blotchiness.

Good to know

And if you’re looking to really push the boat out, a body exfoliation can often be combined with other pampering treatments such as a massage or detoxifying body wrap – which will leave your skin feeling as a good as new. Though it’s important to note that most scrub down sessions require you to be naked apart from a pair of disposable undies, so if you’re on the shy side this treatment may not be right for you.
